in the folds (2019-2020)
"In the folds" is a series of drawings and paintings examining the bed as a space of varied experience. While beds often suggest ideas of cleanliness, safety, and rejuvenation, they can also be spaces where we dwell in times of illness and depression. We turn to beds for play and for comfort, but for some, they are also places of violence or loss. These hybrid metaphors are communicated through the folds of the sheets, pillows, and comforters, prompting us to question whether the remnants displayed suggest pleasure or discomfort.
